Did you see us on Countryfile? Thanks to Luke from Sauced Here, us, our business and the process our rapeseed oil goes through was featured on the show.

We were delighted to be part of a show which is a huge favourite of ours and it was such a great opportunity to showcase what we do, and how we work with the fabulous Sauced Here too. Luke wrote the following press release which tells you more about the feature we were part of in the show. However, you can catch up on the show on Iplayer too and see us in action for yourselves.

SaucedHere.co.uk, a Peak District fine food & drink supplier, spent the day filming with BBC Countryfile highlighting what the Peak District has to offer, from places to visit to great food and drink.

Based within the beautiful village of Bamford in the Hope Valley, the Countryfile team were hosted by The Angler’s Rest, the first pub in Derbyshire to be purchased and owned collectively by the local community. The pub is also a SaucedHere.co.uk Click ‘n’ Collect station, making it a ‘pub that is most definitely the hub’.

From Bamford, the Countryfile presenters Anita Rani and Sean Fletcher were taken out into the hills. Anita joined an organised walk with a local outdoor pursuit’s expert. Guiding Sean was Luke Osborne, from SaucedHere.co.uk, on a visit to a select few of the 40 Peak District farmers, food & drink producers SaucedHere.co.uk works with.

Luke introduced Sean to Brock and Morten based in Ashford-in-the-Water. Owned by the Brocklehurst family the farm takes a sustainable approach to their farming and food production, creating a unique Peak District cold pressed rapeseed oil with minimal wastage and low food miles. Kate Brocklehurst explained: “We press our rapeseed nice and slowly after it is dried naturally. The left-over seed husks are then fed to our cattle eliminating waste.”

At Caudwell’s Mill in Rowsley, a roller flour mill built in 1874 and powered by water, Luke gave Sean the chance to be the first to see flour being milled by a recently renovated machine that hadn’t worked for 40 years!

Nathan Corns, the mill manager, said: “It was a pleasure to see Sean be involved in the resurrection of such an important part of milling history right here in the heart of Derbyshire.”

The day culminated in Anita, Sean and Luke returning to the Angler’s Rest to meet Derbyshire-born Spice Sisters, Nilam Wright and Veena Josh from Curry On Cooking who gave the team a cookery masterclass in Indian bread making using the flour and oil collected earlier that day.

The BBC asked Luke Osborne for his help in prioritising the best food and drink producers in the Peak District which, as the owner at SaucedHere.co.uk, he relished doing. Luke collaborates with around 40 Peak District farmers, food & drink producers and local businesses to make it easier for people to access 1000+ locally sourced food and drink products.

Luke said: “When I opened SaucedHere.co.uk I was blown away by the quality of the food and drink available right on our doorstep and making it easier for people to access it gives me a real buzz. The Peak District should be recognised as the capital of food and drink in the UK!”
